We've all heard of the five different love languages, right? They are the five most common ways people receive and give love within their relationships. These love languages include:
1) Words of affirmation
2) Acts of service
3) Physical touch
4) Quality time
5) Receiving gifts
These love languages are universal--fitting the physical and emotional needs of pretty much anyone. Personally, my love language is physical touch, with quality time coming in a very close second. Blake's love language just so happens to be physical touch too, which is actually very rare! Many couples don't share the same love language, and that's okay! Regardless of which love language category you fall into, it's important to develop a strong understanding of what you need to feel loved, as well as what your partner needs to feel loved!
Although the love languages listed above are universal--I'd like to put a spin on this blog post. Here are "The 5 Love Languages of a Rancher."
1. Words of Affirmation
Hunny, you look great in those muddy jeans.
Those dirty cowboy boots make you look so manly.
Your Carhartt jacket really brings out the color of your eyes.
That cowboy hat looks so good on you!
2. Acts of Service
I'll take the 2 A.M. calving check, go ahead and get a couple more hours of sleep.
I'll wash your muddy clothing for you, just set them by the wash machine.
I'll open the gate for you sweetie so you don't have to get out of the pickup!
I can stop at the feed store and pick up the vaccine for you so you don't have to make a trip to town.
I can drop off lunch in the field so you don't have to stop fencing.
3. Physical Touch
Hunny, you have cow poop on your face, I'll wipe it off for you.
Let's hold hands as we drive through the pastures checking cows.
4. Quality Time
Do you want to ride with me to check the cows (and more than likely get all of the gates)?
Do you want to go fencing with me? I promise it'll be relaxing.
I'll drive the bobcat while you hold up posts to pound into the ground.
Do you want to help me put hay in for the fat cattle?
5. Receiving Gifts
I bought you some warmer socks to wear with your Muck boots--since it's getting colder outside.
I bought you a new flag for working cows, since the tattered one doesn't seem to phase some of the "woofy" girls.
I bought you some new fencing gloves!
I hope these make you smile--and maybe you can relate to one or more of these statements. As the week moves forward--take a moment to learn more about yourself as a partner, a spouse, or a friend and which love language is most fitting for you! Wishing you a fantastic week ahead.
